NIT-T to host TEDx on Sunday

TIRUCHI: The Entrepreneurship Cell of National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T) will host TEDx, a global forum for innovators, on September 19.

The meet for innovators with entrepreneurial instinct promises a rare opportunity to develop apt foresight.

TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is a non-profit entity devoted to spreading worthy ideas that could change people's attitudes, lives and ultimately the world, brings together the world's greatest thinkers and doers. The annual TED conference is held in Long Beach/ Palm Springs in spring and TED global in Oxford, UK, every summer. TED offers free knowledge and inspiration from world's greatest thinkers through its other initiatives as well. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, “ideas worth spreading.”

The program is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, unique talks given by live speakers combine with TEDTalks videos to spark deep conversation and connections. The theme of TEDxTrichy is ‘Path Not Taken' in honour of individuals who have dared to dream differently. The event has been envisaged to encourage exchange of ideas and information , the organisers said.

Eminent speakers at the meet would include Anshu Gupta, Founder Director of Goonj; Balaji Sampath, MentorWinner of The Ashoka Fellowship; Subramaniam Vincent, Co-founder of India Together and Oorvani; J. Balamurugan, Managing Director of Nexgen Commnications Ltd.; Srihari Balakrishnan, Promoter of KG Mills (Coimbatore), Amoeba Telecom Ltd, Southern Technologies and cofounder of RND Technologies; Mani Chinnaswamy, Managing Director, Appachi Cotton Company; RMP Jawahar, Executive Director of TREC-STEP and president of Indian STEPs and Business Incubators' Association; Nitin Gupta, Founder and CEO Entertainment Engineers; Vivek Karwa, Certified Financial Planner and CEO, VridhiPart of Management Committee at TamilNadu Investors Association; and John Lewis, Memory Grand Master.
