Dicky Rutnagur London: Veteran sportswriter and commentator Dicky Rutnagur was honoured with a “Lifetime Achievement Award,” by the Indian Journalists Association here for his contribution to sports journalism. ‘Dicky' as he was known to journalists in India and aboard in the Sixties, reported cricket for several national newspapers like the Hindustan Times, The Mail (Chennai), The Hindu and its sister publication, Sport & Pastime. He also wrote for a few papers in the West Indies before moving to London as one of the cricket writers for The Daily Telegraph. Besides cricket, Dicky, covered important events in table tennis, like the World championships. Popular for his ready wit and humour, Dicky commanded respect and admiration from all sections of the media and sportsmen, about whom he wrote with rare felicity. He was also a commentator on cricket for All India Radio. At a well-attended function in Grosvenor House recently, S.P. Hinduja and G.P. Hinduja, Chairman and President respectively of the Hinduja Group, gave away the trophy. Responding to the honour and felicitations, Rutnagar said, “I will always treasure this award as one of the high points of my life. I am really overwhelmed, and I am deeply grateful to the IJA for this recognition.”
