Vinod Gowda wins in straight sets

HYDERABAD: Vinod Gowda defeated Yash Deshpande 6-2, 6-1 in the boys' preliminary round of the Shree TMT-ITF Grade IV junior tennis tournament for boys and girls at NVK Tennis Academy here on Thursday.

Loyola clinches title

Loyola Academy (Alwal) won the Osmania University inter-college basketball tournament for men defeating MJ College of Engineering 52-41 in the final here on Thursday.

Chess tourney from Sept.24

The East Coast Railway Institute at Marripalem here is conducting its DRM gold medal State-level chess tournament.

Winner and runner-up will receive gold medals and cash prizes will be awarded to players down to 20th position.

Athletics selections

Ranga Reddy District Athletics Association will organise selection trials to pick the district team on September 19 at Saroornagar Stadium in Hyderabad from 8.30 a.m. to pick the team to take part in the AP Inter-district meet to be held in Vijayawada from October 22 to 24.
