VIJAYAWADA: Guntur's G.V. Sarat Babu (four for 57) and B. Sudhakar (three for 34) restricted West Godavari to 174 in 53.5 overs in the three-day ACA senior inter-district tournament at Mangalagiri on Sunday. At stumps on day one, Guntur was 157 for five in 34 overs with Manoj Sai batting on 55. The scores: WG 174 in 53.5 overs (Y. Narayana 46, G.V. Sarat Babu four for 57, B. Sudhakar three for 34) vs. Guntur 157 for five in 34 overs (Manoj Sai 55, S.S. Bharat 32) . Andhra carrom team The following players will represent Andhra in the 18th Federation Cup carrom tournament to be held at Nagpur from September 18 to 21. The teams: Men: K. Srujan Kumar, Sk. Karimullah, Sk. Elahi, P. Sambasiva Rao; Women: B. Radhika, N. Rajalakshmi, B. Vijayakumari, N. Nirmala. Manager: P. Bhaskar . Krishna triumphs Tenali's C.R.G. Krishna (8.5 points) won the 48th AP State chess championship which concluded recently at Nellore. South Central Railway's J. Ramakrishna and Global Chess Academy's Abhilash Reddy finished second and third respectively. Hyderabad's Praveen Prasad took the fourth place. These four players will represent Andhra Pradesh in the National ‘B' championship to be held at Bhiwani (Haryana) from September 15 to 26.
