Tejaswini gets closer to selection

NEW DELHI: Quite keen to return to her pet event, air rifle, World champion in prone, Tejaswini Sawant, came up with a score of 395 out of 400 in the combined final selection trials for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, but could not make any progress from her third spot in the overall merit list.

Impressive Jung

Meanwhile, the hero of the last edition of the Commonwealth Games, Samaresh Jung was impressive in the 50-metre free pistol event, with a score of 555.

However, that score could only make him jump from the 19th spot in the overall list to the fifth position, with an average of 546.75.

Deepak Sharma jumped into the lead among 38 shooters with a score of 553. He was able to pip the earlier leader Omkar Singh by 0.5 points.
