NEW DELHI: A trimmed list of 45 foreign riders who will take part in the cyclothon competition, a ‘test' event for the Commonwealth Games, to be held on Sunday was released on Friday. Cyclists from Belgium, Holland, South Africa, Singapore, Iran, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Philippines will give a tough fight to the Indian riders, led by Asia Cup bronze medallist O. Bikram Singh. The race, known as Tour de Delhi, has got the approval of the International Cycling Federation (UCI) and will be listed under the category 1.2 of the Asia Tour. UCI's David McQuaid will be the race director, while Jamaluddin Mahmood will be the race commissioner for the event. The route has been slightly changed following instructions from the Delhi traffic police. Now, the race will move through the Central Vista instead of the Connaught Place. Meanwhile, McQuaid informed that UCI had put pressure on the cycle manufacture to expedite the delivery of equipment and bikes to the Indian riders. — Principal Correspondent
