Delhi and Chennai added to list

NEW DELHI: Chennai and Delhi have been added as locations, along with Bangalore, Ludhiana and Mumbai, for the next edition of the Mahindra NBA Challenge basketball league.

The programme, for boys and girls above 14 years of age, has been successfully run for seven weeks in the three cities, featuring thousands of players including members of the national team, in a two-tier system.

“We saw tremendous interest and enthusiasm for the inaugural Mahindra NBA Challenge, and we look forward to returning with an expanded schedule next year,” said NBA Director for International Development in India, Akash Jain, in a release issued on Friday.

Excited

Mahindra's Executive vice-president, Ruzbeh Irani, said the company was excited about expanding the popular event of the basketball community.

“We have seen an incredible response this year, and anticipate the same reaction in Chennai and Delhi, two strong markets for basketball,” said the Secretary-General of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), Harish Sharma. — Special Correspondent
