Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy HYDERABAD: A day after the high command hinted at disciplinary action against Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy if he resumed the ‘Odarpu yatra', his camp followers are closely watching the Central leadership's next move. The MP's supporters see it as yet another attempt by the AICC to rein him in by stalling the ‘yatra' in Prakasam district from September 3. But they remained determined. Mines Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy has already said that he would participate. Others from the district are equally defiant and building pressure on the district MLAs to follow suit. Yet the MP's camp appears a bit concerned at Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's ‘stern' warning, and by the growing chasm between Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and the high command. “After forcing the MLAs to toe the high command line, Central leaders are directly targeting Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy with a threat of action,” an MLA said on Sunday. Notwithstanding the AICC stand, the MP is in no mood to put off the yatra. On Sunday, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy interacted with his aides and left for Pulivendula to participate in the two-day ‘Odarpu yatra'. In a related development, Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari clarified in Visakhapatnam that party leaders could contact AICC general secretary Ahmed Patel to confirm whether her remarks on the yatra reflected the high command's views. On the other hand, former Minister Konda Surekha, a staunch supporter of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, said in Ongole that some party leaders were misleading the MLAs on the yatra. She said party activists could confront the elected representatives if they failed to participate in the yatra and alleged that the Daggubati couple never behaved like Congress leaders.
