Two share lead

CHENNAI: Senthil Kumaran, a chess coach from Tamil Nadu defeated two-time champion Ram S. Krishnan of BSNL to share the lead along with Stany of Karnataka at the end of the fifth round in the S.K. Narasimhan Memorial rating chess tournament here on Monday.

Sentil Kumaran and G.A. Stany have full five points.Eight players are in the joint third place on 4.5 points and it includes Rahul Sangma, Sudhakar Babu and G.B. Prakash.

The results:

Fifth round: Rahul Sangma 4.5 drew with C.R.G. Krishna 4.5, G.A. Stany 5 bt O.T. Anilkumar 4, Sudhakar Babu 4.5 drew with Karthikeyan Murali 4.5, R.P. Senthil Kumaran 5 bt Ram S. Krishnan 4, P. Ganesh 3.5 lost to G.B. Prakash 4.5, Jitendria Vels 3.5 lost to P. Maheswaran 4.5, Vignesh N.R 3.5 lost to Navin Kanna 4.5, K.V. Shantharam 4 drew with Arun Senthil 4, M. Mukesh 4 drew with V.R. Bhat 4, Akash P.C. Iyer 4.5 bt S. Adithya 3.5, Shyam Nikhil 4 bt Sai Vishwesh 3.

Fourth round: K. Gopalakrishnan lost to Sangma, Prakash drew with Jitendria Vels, Karthikeyan Murali bt Shyam Nikhil, M. Siddarth lost to Sudhakar Babu . — Arvind Aaron
