Big win for Anantapur

VIJAYAWADA: Anantapur defeated Kurnool by 167 runs in the ACA south zone inter-district under-19 tournament for the Thunga Giridhar Reddy memorial trophy at Anantapur on Monday.

The scores: Anantapur 236 & 207 for nine decl. in 75.1 overs (D.R. Prashanth Kumar 78, Bhanu Prakash Naik 43, Abdul Haq three for 29) bt Kurnool 139 and 137 in 47.3 overs (Abdul Haq 45, D.B. Prashanth Kumar four for 20, Vineel Kumar three for 16).

Nellore 215 and 148 in 83.2 overs (Janardhan 38, Ahmed Basha four for 33, Ramesh Reddy four for 28) lost to Kadapa 189 and 178 for nine in 50.1 overs (Vamsi Krishna 71 n.o., Jayawardhan 55, Prem Sagar four for 49, Aswin Hebbar three for 43).

WG lifts title

West Godavari won the ACA Central Zone senior women inter-district tournament that concluded at Guntur on Monday. Both West Godavari and Krishna finished with 12 points each and West Godavari was declared winner on better run rate.

The scores: Combined XI 36 in 20.4 overs (S. Lavanya three for eight, Aruna three for 12) lost to WG 37 for no loss in 5.5 overs.

Krishna 148 for eight in 50 overs (Manveen Kaur Kohli 56, A.M. Meghana 30, V. Kumari three for 11) bt Prakasam 85 for seven in 50 overs.

CZ team

T.S. Tulasi Rama Lakshmi will lead the ACA Central Zone senior women's team in the inter-zonal tournament to be held at Guntur from September 3.
