Indian women's boxing team

NEW DELHI: Top boxer M.C. Mary Kom will lead India's campaign in the women's World boxing championship to be held in Barbados from September 9 to 19. The Indian team will leave for Barbados on September 5.

Altogether 306 boxers have registered for the World championship. The total number of participants has registered a 50 per cent rise in comparison to that of the 2008 edition.

The number of participating countries has increased from 42 in 2008 to 75 this year.

The team: M.C. Mary Kom (48kg), L. Sarita Devi (51kg), Priyanka Choudhary (54kg), Pavitra (57kg), Neetu Chahal (60kg), Pratibha Jakhar (64kg), Kavita Goyat (69kg), Aswathy Mol (75kg), Laxmi Padiya (81kg), Kavita Chahal (+81kg) . — Principal Correspondent
