Woman ends life

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Parveen Babi (32), a housewife, committed suicide by consuming poison here on Saturday night after forcing her three children to drink cool drinks, laced with poison.

While children survived, Parveen Babi died instantly, at her residence on Masjid Road in Shivaji Nagar.

Her daughter, Fatima, sons Zubaid and Farhan, were rushed to the hospital by neighbours. The three are being treated in a hospital, police sources said.

Parveen Babi's husband Afzal is a scrap dealer who works in the city market.

Though the reason for her action is yet to be ascertained, the police believe that extreme poverty and lack of a steady income forced the woman to take this extreme step.

Found dead

Bhagya (28) was found dead, hanging from the ceiling fan, at her residence in A.K. Colony here on Sunday morning. The police were alerted by neighbours.

The police believe that her husband Manjunath strangled her to death, hung the body from the ceiling fan and fled with their two children Meghana and Mithun.

The couple has been married for the past five years.

Further investigation is on.
