Bhimavaram to host badminton tourney

VIJAYAWADA: Bhimavaram will host the Andhra Pradesh junior (U-19) badminton tournament for boys and girls at the Cosmopolitan Club at Bhimavaram from August 11 to 14.

Spoorthy loses

Vijayawada paddler Karnam Spoorthy, the reigning US Open u-13 girls' champion, lost to Tsui Pao-Wen of Chinese Taipei 0-3 (8-11, 4-11, 4-11) in the pre-quarterfinals of the cadet segment of the Nikon 2010 Hong Kong cadet and junior tournament that concluded at Hong Kong on Sunday, according to information reaching here on Monday.
