Staff Reporter

SREEKRISHNAPURAM (PALAKKAD): Engineering Colleges in the State should be made centres of excellence to comprehend the fast-paced advancements in science and technology, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said.

The investment in the engineering sector in the country will see a ten-fold increase in the next ten years, he said after inaugurating a new building complex of the Sreekrishnapuram Government Engineering College here on Sunday.

The State should make use of this opportunity. Research and development in engineering is vital to the progress of mankind, he said.

The State could record achievements in science and technology in the last four years. The State could get the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology due to the consistent efforts of the government, Mr. Achuthanandan said.
