BANGALORE: A 50-year-old paediatrician, who was kidnapped on Friday, was found murdered near Kunigal in Tumkur district on Saturday. House call The police said Sharat Kumar of Geddadahalli near Sanjaynagar was a diligent doctor who never refused house calls at any time of the day. On Friday morning, Dr. Kumar went with some men on a supposed house call. In the afternoon, he called his neighbour Shailendra, a jeweller, and asked him to hand over 850 gm of gold ornaments to his wife. He then called his wife, Anjali, and asked her to collect the jewellery from Mr. Shailendra, add some of her own and give a total of 1 kg gold to a man named Vinod Kumar. A man identifying himself as Vinod Kumar turned up in the evening and collected the ornaments. Thereafter, Dr. Kumar was in touch with his wife till late in the evening. His cellphone was then switched off. After waiting for her husband all night, Ms. Anjali filed a complaint with the Sanjaynagar police on Saturday morning. Body found Meanwhile, the police received information from their Tumkur counterparts about a body discovered in a vacant site in Kunigal. On examination, it was found to be that of Dr. Kumar. The police said he had been strangulated with a wire. The Sanjay Nagar police are investigating.
