VS to inaugurate ‘technolodge’

KOLLAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the first ‘technolodge’ in the State at Kadakkal on Saturday. Minister for Agriculture Mullakara Ratnakaran will preside.

A technolodge at Perinad in Kollam district is also ready for inauguration.

The State government plans to set up technolodges in small towns and rural areas that have unused land or buildings belonging to local bodies. The project is being implemented by Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd (KSITI).

The technolodge at Kadakkal is of 2,500 sq ft, while the one at Perinad is 2,750 sq ft. Both have been taken over by the Technopark-based Accentia Technologies Ltd.

V.S. Pradeep, managing director of Accentia Technologies, said the company planned to employ 250 professionals at the Kadakkal facility in three shifts and 300 professionals at Perinad. Tehnopark CEO Mervin Alexander said there was good response from IT firms to the concept of technolodges.
