NEW DELHI: Chief Justice of Karnataka P.D. Dinakaran, whose elevation as a judge of the Supreme Court has been put on hold, on Saturday declined to comment on the allegations of encroachment of government land and acquisition of other immovable assets levelled against him by the Forum for Judicial Accountability (FJA). When journalists sought his response, Justice Dinakaran, who is attending the Chief Justices conference here at Vigyan Bhavan, smilingly said: “I won’t answer anything now. Silence is my only weapon today.” Meanwhile, it was learnt that Justice Dinakaran informally met Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan, who had sought his reply to the Tiruvallur District Collector’s report that he had encroached upon a large extent of land. Denies findingsJustice Dinakaran, in his reply, is understood to have broadly denied the District Collector’s findings. He and his family members have also sent affidavits to the CJI and other members of the collegium denying allegations that they had acquired immovable property at various places in Tamil Nadu. On Friday, the FJA sent its fourth representation to the collegium, providing more details of the alleged acquisition. The forum sought an immediate inquiry by the CBI, and stated that he should not be assigned any judicial work till it was completed.
