Get real, Subramanian Swamy tells leaders
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Monday urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa to “get real” and drop the LTTE issue from the ongoing election campaign. Instead, they should debate on issues that concerned the common man, he said.
“Flip-flop”
In a statement, Dr. Swamy said Mr. Karunanidhi’s “flip-flop” on the LTTE issue was symptomatic of a deeper malaise in the thinking of pro-LTTE Tamil Nadu leaders. They were “torn between the reality that the people of Tamil Nadu do not care about the fate of the LTTE and their vanity about the Dravidian movement…”
Dr. Swamy urged Mr. Karunanidhi and Ms. Jayalalithaa to remove the LTTE issue from the political discourse and instead focus on citizen’s issues such as good governance, development, and law and order.
