Devotional fervour: People attending midnight mass on Christmas eve at St. Mary’s Church in Secunderabad.

Hyderabad: Christians thronged churches in the city to attend the midnight mass to ring in Christmas on Wednesday night. Brightly lit up churches saw people attending prayers and Christmas carols such as ‘Silent night, Holy night’ warmed up the winter night. Special messages of peace and festive spirit were spread by priests.

St. Mary’s Church at Secunderabad saw one of the largest congregations and was jam packed.

The congregations at St. Anthony’s Church at Mudfort, Baptist Church and All Saints Church were also impressive.

Homes and shops had stars put up in front of them and Christmas trees decorated with stars, Santa Claus dolls and bells were put up at every hotel, pubs and clubs.

Freshly baked Christmas cakes from bakeries added to the festive spirit.
