A gang allegedly conspired to grab some one’s property by forging the documents CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police arrested a 75-year-old man on charges of impersonation, conspiracy, forgery and cheating. He was produced before a city court, which remanded him to judicial custody on Monday. Following a complaint from Savitri (75), wife of late Krishna Reddy of East Street, Kilpauk, that some persons had allegedly fenced her property situated at Nehru Nagar in Kottivakkam, Commissioner of Police G. Nanchil Kumaran directed the CCB police to register a case. Investigations revealed that a gang comprising three to four persons including K. S. S. Hariharan (75) of Korattur, Tamizhmani (48) and Murugavel (38) had allegedly conspired to grab the property by forging the documents. Preliminary inquiries revealed that after fabricating the documents of the original owner late Krishna Reddy, the gang had entered into an agreement of sale with a buyer who was identified as Palani for a price of Rs 25 lakh per ground, while the market price was around Rs 75 lakh per ground. The sale agreement was registered with the Sub-Registrar office at Tambaram. It was found that Hariharan had signed in the name of Krishna Reddy and also affixed a thumb impression, claiming it to be that of Krishna Reddy. Based on his confession, police registered a case of impersonation, the investigation officer said. Hariharan retired as BDO Rural Welfare Officer in Maduranthakam in 1991, he added. Further investigation is on.
