Western Zone scores win

HYDERABAD: Western Zone recorded a 14-run win over Northern Zone in the semifinal of the United India Assurance all- India inter-zonal cricket tournament here on Friday.

The scores: Southern Zone 107 for nine (V. Madhavan 55) lost to Head Office, Mumbai, 108 for no loss (Shailesh Shetty 52, Anand Venkatraman 41).

Western Zone 113 for nine bt Northern Zone 99.

Shahdaab to lead

Shahdaab Tumbi will lead Hyderabad under-13 team in the tournament to be played in Chennai from December 28, according to an HCA press release.

The team: Shahdaab Tumbi (capt - St. Peter’s), Ravi Teja (St. Andrews), Vipul Mantri (St. Paul’s), Vinay Kumar (Cal PS), Sameer Ahmed (Districts), Shah Nawaz (Districts), V.L. Tennis League

Vijaya Paul Cricket Academy will organise the seventh Santa Cup cricket tournament in the age groups of under-11, 13 and 15 years from December 23 to 29.

Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy (Bangalore), Aurangabad Cricket Academy are the two outstation teams vying for top honours along with the City outfits.

Easy for Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram posted two wins in the league phase of the 23rd All India Department of Atomic Energy kabaddi tournament at NFC here on Friday.

The results: Rameshwaram bt Konark 34-12; Ajanta bt Ellora 39-14; Dwaraka bt Nagarjuna 37-11; Rameshwaram bt Dwaraka 38-20; Ajanta bt Pushkar 25-7; Golconda bt Ellora 49-36.

Arjun Yadav to lead

N. Arjun Yadav will lead Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh to be played here from December 24.

Modern Academy defeated Alluri Seetharama Raju XI by six wickets in the Krishna District Cricket Association’s ‘B’ division league tournament for Devineni Venkataramana - Praneetha Memorial Trophy here on Friday.

The scores: Alluri Seetharama Raju XI 70 in 20.4 overs (Ashok five for 19) lost to Modern Academy 71 for four in 10 overs.
