CHANDIGARH: Maratha Warriors thrashed Chennai Veerans 4-1 in a one-sided match of the Premier Hockey League here on Friday. Pakistan import Rehan Butt displayed scintillating stick work to score a brace, which sealed the fate of the Veerans. The Chennai team faltered against the combination of Butt, Bharat Chikara and Shivendra Singh as the trio made several attacks on the rival goal. The only consolation for the Veerans was a goal by Raghunath through a penalty corner in the second-half. At the break, Warriors was leading 2-0. Warriors took the lead in the 19th minute when Butt put the ball in through a reverse hit. Three minutes later, Chikara scored a field goal to make it 2-0. However, Veerans combined well in the second half and earned its first penalty corner, which was successfully converted by Raghunath. Butt scored the third goal and Shivendra netted the fourth in the third quarter. Bangalore Hi-Fliers posts winIn another match, Bangalore Hi-Fliers edged past Orissa Steelers 6-5 in the tie-breaker. In the regulation time, both the teams were locked two-all and failed to resolve the dead-lock in the 10-minute extra-time also. — Agencies
