YSR according priority to irrigation projects: Minister

‘Outlay of Rs. 10,000 crore for irrigation projects in Kadapa’



Celebration time: Minister for Medical Education Galla Aruna Kumari flagging off a Kadapa bicentenary campaign vehicle on Sunday.

KADAPA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was according priority to irrigation projects, a few centuries after Sri Krishnadevaraya did so in his rule, Minister for Medical Education Galla Aruna Kumari asserted on Sunday.

Addressing a meeting here to review arrangements on Kadapa bicentenary, she said the government was executing irrigation projects in Kadapa district with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 crore. YSR was striving to restore the pristine glory of Kadapa district, she said. The bicentenary fete was aimed at projecting the culture and history of the district.

Nineteen committees were constituted for conducting the fete, District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said. Kadapa’s significance would be published in book form and sent to all schools, colleges and libraries, he said. Campaign vehicles were deployed to popularise the festivities among people. The Minister later flagged off a campaign vehicle in the Collectorate.
