Rajasekhar shines

VIJAYAWADA: C. Rajasekhar’s solitary goal in the first half helped Vijayawada Football Association ‘A’ beat Care and Share ‘B’ in the seven-a-side invitation football tournament, organised by the Vijayawada Football Association, here on Saturday.

The results:

VFA ‘A’ bt Care and Share ‘B’ 1-0; SCR bt ALC ‘B’ 3-0; SAAP Football Academy (Medak) bt DSA (Guntur) 6-0; Peracherla FC bt ALC ‘A’ 8-2; VFA ‘A” bt IGMC 6-1; SAAP Football Academy (Medak) bt KCP Adrash Siddhartha 5-0; SCR bt VFA ‘B’ 7-0.

South ‘A’, ‘B’ in final

At Guntur, South Zone ‘A’ and ‘B’ garnered two points each by virtue of the first innings lead against Central ‘B’ and Central ‘A’ respectively in the ACA under-13 inter-zonal cricket tournament.

The scores:

Central ‘A’ 169 & 103 for eight in 34 overs (Ravi Teja 48, A. Surya three for 17) drew with South ‘B’ 223 in 74 overs (C. Srinivas Rao 43, V. Mahesh 45, A. Srinivas three for 64).

South ‘A’ 304 & 133 for seven in 44 overs (Sabeer 51, Rajesh five for 11) drew with Central ‘B’ 134 in 56 overs (A. Rajesh 51, Ramesh Reddy four for 34).

Modern post wins

Modern Academy and Aussies XI scored victories over Cricket Association of Nuzvid (CAN) and Sarada College respectively in the KDCA ‘B’ division league cricket tournament for the Devineni Venkataramana-Praneetha Memorial Trophy here on Saturday.

The scores:

Modern Academy 97 in 26.3 overs (Ganesh three for 16) bt CAN (Nuzvid) 79 in 23.3 overs (Karthik four for 17, Revath three for 14).

Sarada College 39 in 11.5 overs (Bharat three for 16) lost to Aussies XI 40 for four in 6.2 overs.
