Renu hits unbeaten century

VIJAYAWADA: Punjab’s Renu Margret scored an unbeaten 115 to help her team post a mammoth 343 for four in 90 overs against Orissa at the end of the first day’s play in the two-day all-India senior women’s inter-zonal knockout tournament at Anantapur on Tuesday, according to information reaching here.

The 143-run fourth wicket partnership between Renu and Komal Preeth (46) was the highlight of the day.

The scores: Punjab 343 for four in 90 overs (Renu Margret 115 not out, Anureet Kaur 82, Richa Saigal 54, Komal Preeth 46) vs. Orissa.

Madhya Pradesh 207 for nine in 90 overs (Babita 54, Ketaki 41, Neeranjana three for 41) vs. Tamil Nadu.

Rajesh, Rakesh bowl well

Jitendra’s unbeaten 79 for Guntur and five-wicket hauls by Krishna’s Rajesh and Rakesh were the highlights of the first day’s play of the two-day R.M.V. Narasimha Rao memorial ACA Central Zone under-13 inter-district cricket tournament at the Loyola Public School grounds at Guntur on Tuesday.

The scores: Guntur 240 in 87 overs (Jitendra 79 n.o., Surendra 42, Manohar 40, Ch. Kranthi three for 48) vs. Prakasam 37 for no loss in 10 overs.

Krishna 179 in 70 overs (Lal Krishna 32 n.o., Chaitanya four for 36, M.S.S. Pavan three for 11) and 37 for no loss in five overs vs. West Godavari 38 in 15 overs (Rajesh five for 12, Rakesh five for 25).

Nalanda PS prevails

Nalanda Public School registered a narrow two-run victory over Railway Mixed High School in the Krishna District Cricket Association’s interschool league tournament, for the Nori Sivaramakrishna memorial Trophy, here on Tuesday.

The scores:

Gautam PS 84 in 22.3 overs (N. Shravan four for 33) bt Model PS (Gudivada) 52 in 15.2 overs (P. Mahendra six for 15, T. Ashok four for 14).

Nalanda PS 78 in 25.4 overs (Uday seven for 17) bt Railway Mixed HS 76 in 24.4 overs (Chaitanya three for 12).

Visakhapatnam keeps title

Visakhapatnam retained the P.N. Rajagopal Trophy in the Andhra Cricket Association North Zone inter-district under-13 tournament, topping the round-robin pool after drawing with Srikakulam at the ACA-VDCA stadium at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

East Godavari beat Vizianagaram by an innings and 20 runs to take the runner-up spot.

Left-arm medium-pacer Mounish, with a five-wicket haul, helped East Godavari take five points from the match for a total of nine, one behind Visakhapatnam.

Last year’s runner-up Srikakulam finished third.

The scores:

Visakhapatnam 298 and 95 for one decl. in 26 overs (G. Vamsidhar Reddy 33 n.o., T.V. Sai Dinesh 32, Antony Khan 27 n.o.) drew with Srikakulam 174 in 78 overs (P. Dinesh 59, G. Yogesh 35, Y. Leela Prasad Yadav four for 32) and 62 for four in 28 overs (P. Dinesh 25).

Vizianagaram 133 and 66 in 28.4 overs (Mounish five for 23, A. Manoj Kumar three for 22) lost to East Godavari 219 in 80 overs (D. Akhil 63, N. Srinivas 52, S.G. Sagar 41, Pravin Kumar four for 26).
