Vidya Pillai wins again

CHENNAI: Vidya Pillai won her fifth straight match to be the only player to remain undefeated in Group D in the women’s section of the World snooker championship being held in Korat, Thailand. Vidya’s latest victim was Hanna Mergies of Poland. The Indian won 48-3, 27-61, 62-4, 61-46.

Meanwhile, National champion Alok Kumar and former Asian champion Yasin Merchant continued their good work. Alok registered his ninth win in 10 outings when he got past Lasse Munstermann of Germany 50-75, 68-9, 66-53, 80-59, 25-62, 82-0. Equally efficient was Yasin against Poramin Danjrakul of Thailand. He won 20-79, 70-19, 82-35, 71-53, 30-70, 65-13.

In the Masters section, Geet Sethi disposed of Obaid Khalifa of UAE with a facile 3-0 win. Sethi won 64-47, 62-15, 99-27.
