No sweat for SCR

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Hyderabad Globe in the super league of the SAAP Premier League football championship at the Gymkhana grounds here on Sunday.

SCR took the lead in the fourth minute when midfielder Vijay dodged past a couple of defenders to find the target with a powerful right-footer. In the 30th minute, Srinivas Rao capitalised on a deflection from the goalkeeper Omer Khan to find the target. At half-time, SCR led 2-0.

In the second session, Srinivas Rao struck again with a fine solo effort to seal the issue.

Hat-trick by Sharath

Captain and centre-forward Sharath scored all the five goals to help Wesley High School record a convincing 5-0 win over Parsi High School in the fourth inter-schools hockey tournament here. Sharath struck in the third, 13th, 15th, 17th and 38th minutes and in the process record the first hat-trick of the event.

Earlier, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School (Ramachandrapuram) scored an emphatic 5-0 win over Hyderabad Public School (Ramanthapur) in the inaugural match.

Dilip Reddy’s brace and a goal apiece by Sambasiva Reddy and Mushtaq in the first-half helped BVB take a convincing 4-0 lead at the break. In the second session, Sambasiva Reddy netted his second goal to complete the tally for the winners.

S. Surender, managing committee member of HHA, inaugurated the tournament.

Srikanth hits century

A century by J. Srikanth Yadav (105) helped Falaknuma CC score a 78-run win over Deccan Wanderers in the A-Division (one-day) knock-out cricket tournament here.

The scores: A-Division (one-day knock-out): NFC 212 for nine (Narsimha 48, S. Srinivas five for 30) lost to National 213 for eight (M.A. Khadeer 57, Srinivas 62 not out).

Falaknuma 270 (J. Srikanth Yadav 105, Tulsi Reddy 56) bt Deccan Wanderers 192 (Razak Ali 71).

IDL 234 (Janeed 92, Md. Moin five for 35) lost to Rushiraj 236 for five (Majid 101 not out).

Hyderabad Titans 107 (Salman 40) lost to ECIL 111 for three (M.S. Kiran 45 not out).

C-Division league: Concorde 178 (Randhir 63, K. Prashanth Reddy six for 36) bt CK Blues 149 for two (Vipul Manthi 73 not out); MP Youngmen 323 for seven (M.A. Waseem 80, Sanjay Kiran 74, Ravi Prashanth 50) bt Nataraj 243 (Arun 83, Michael five for 45).
