Court stays proceedings against MLA

Hyderabad: Justice B. Seshasayana Reddy of the High Court on Wednesday stayed the proceedings against Yerneni Ramachander Rao, MLA, Kaikalur, in a criminal case wherein he is facing charges of taking money by producing fraudulent medical bills. It may be recalled that there was furore and public interest cases filed regarding the allegations that the MLA had claimed for reimbursement of money allegedly spent for heart operations twice by producing fake bills. The criminal case was registered after observations by the High Court.

The government wanted to withdraw the criminal case and issued GO in this regard. The criminal court refused to accept the GO.

The present case has been filed by the MLA before the High Court challenging the order of the criminal court. The judge admitted the matter and stayed further proceedings.
