Nehru Bal Mela inaugurated

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The 45th Nehru Bal Mela organised by the Nehru Bal Samiti was inaugurated here on Saturday by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president J. P. Agarwal.

Appreciating the work undertaken by the Samiti, Mr. Agarwal offered to extend financial support for its educational projects, including computer training and play activities for children from the weaker sections in the city.

The Samiti’s immediate past president T. R. Gupta said while the Bal Mela had been instrumental in developing creativity among children, the Samiti too had been successful in bringing down the number of school drop-outs.

He said the Samiti had established a “no drop-out rate” in all its four centres.

Two delegations of students and teachers from the Russian Federation performed ballet and folk dances on the occasion.

An Indian dance number was also performed by Astkhik Grigoryan, a student from Moscow, along with a number of songs in Russian language.
