He took money from some women, claiming that he had lost his wallet with credit cards CHENNAI: In yet another case of luring women through matrimonial websites by posting fake profiles, police arrested a 33-year-old man on Wednesday. Following a complaint from Vadivelu of Arumbakkam that a girl related to him was cheated by a young man who, after promising to marry her, had taken money, Commissioner of Police G. Nanchil Kumaran directed the police to register a case and investigate. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Inbaraj (33) of Puzhal had allegedly posed as a doctor and invited proposals for marriage from young girls through Internet. He had allegedly given fictitious names and different addresses. A few women responded. Taking advantage of the situation, Inbaraj took money from some women, claiming that he had lost his wallet with credit cards. Though he had promised to return it, the women claimed that the money was never returned. Police found that the accused was already married and that the Red Hills police had registered a case of cheating against Inbaraj a few months ago. After receiving specific information, a special police team trapped Inbaraj on Wednesday. Based on his confessions, police registered a case. Further investigation is on.
