NEW DELHI: A committee set up by the Delhi Health and Family Welfare Ministry to look into allegations of medical negligence at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital where doctors reportedly left a locket inside the chest of a nine-month-old boy has found the allegations “baseless”.
‘Miscommunication’
The fact-finding committee in its report submitted said: “The boy was referred from Kasturba Hospital to LNJP on October 22. He was put on appropriate antibiotics and an intercostals tube was inserted on the right side on the same day by the surgeons. A check X-ray was conducted to note the tube position on Tuesday and this was misinterpreted by the relatives that a locket was left inside the chest.”
The Delhi Medical Council, which also investigated the matter, said it seemed a case of miscommunication between the doctors and relatives of the boy.
