International summit for students on community development soon

Kunal Diwan

Event aims at inculcating a sense of social responsibility in them

NEW DELHI: The second international summit on “Community Development and Leadership-2007” is being organised by Modern School on Barakhamba Road here from October 28 to November 8.

Students from several countries including China, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore and the United States will converge at the school to take part in the event.

The summit will result in an international gathering of young minds and aims at inculcating leadership qualities and a sense of social responsibility towards the community among the youth. The students will be encouraged to participate actively in forming a new and better world.

Exchange of ideas

The objective of the summit is to facilitate an exchange of ideas to empower students to understand the role of leadership in community development.

The participants will be made to realise how vital education is in the evolution of society and what a big difference youth can make in the future of their community and country. To drive home the point, students will be made to go through interactive sessions with eminent political leaders, social workers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, journalists, artists and celebrities. A fun-filled “day of leadership” through learning will seek to bring out the leader in each of the students.

The second major aim of the event is community development and social responsibility. To sensitise students to different aspects of community development, the summit includes a field visit to a village.

Trip to Dilli Haat

A multimedia session will give students an opportunity to express their views on global concerns such as terrorism, global warming and world peace. The participants will also be taken to Dilli Haat to give them an insight into Indian culture and cuisine.
