The relief did not last even a couple of days after opening a part of the Punjagutta flyover. The last two days again, particularly in the peak evening hour rush, commuters traversing Punjagutta-Begumpet stretch had to again experience the dreaded traffic logjam. Serpentine lines of bumper to bumper traffic that stretched itself to the road margins, left every one frustrated, motorists as well as pedestrians.
Building flyovers is no guarantee to smooth traffic flow. They can at best shift problem from one junction to another unless steady traffic flow is ensured at all important intersections. You zoom past a particular stretch only to idle your engine in the next stretch, said a commuter. “What is the use of widened roads when they narrow down in between due to encroachments resulting in a bottleneck leading to pile up ?” said another vexed motorist. Is there any solution to the traffic woes of Hyderabadis?
