Surya Prakash scores century

CHENNAI: City’s L. Surya Prakash scored a match-winning 100, overshadowing the 172-run partnership between S. Ashwin Kumar (82) and K.R. Sethu Nadhavan (97) of Combined Districts, as the two-match under-19 cricket series at Puducherry was shared 1-1 on Tuesday.

Surya Prakash’s century was supported by useful knocks from M. Harikrishna, Garry Dumeniel and M. Kaushik Gandhi, as City chased Districts’ total of 244 successfully.

Districts had earlier won the first match.

The scores:

Combined Districts 244 in 49.2 overs (S. Ashwin Kumar 82, K.R. Sethu Madhavan 97, S. Senthilnathan three for 45, Garry Dumniel three for 59) lost to City 248 for six in 45.4 overs (L. Surya Prakash 100, M. Harikrishna 32, Garry Dumeniel 25, M. Kaushik Gandhi 36, J. Rajkumar three for 55).

Good day for ONGC

ONGC ‘s ‘A’ and ‘B’ men’s teams moved into the quarterfinal phase in the PSPB inter-unit carrom tournament being held here.

Around 90 players from 10 Petroleum organisations are taking part in this five-day tournament.

The tournament was earlier inaugurated by K.K. Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL.

Easy for AG Friends

AG Friends chalked out a comfortable 4-1 win over SDAT in a CHA first division league hockey match at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Monday.

Girls’ football

The Chennai Football Association’s women’s wing will conduct an inter-school tournament for girls at the SDAT ground, Nehru Park, from October 19 to 21.

Acceptance of entries is based on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Entry forms are available at the association office in Nehru Sadium and entries close on October 15.

State-ranking TT

The 11th State-ranking table tennis tournament will be conducted by the Nilgiris District TTA from October 5 to 7 at the St. John’s Matriculation HSS, Coonoor.
