Family cards

Coimbatore: The District Collector, Neeraj Mittal, has said that efforts were on to expedite the process of distributing family cards under the Public Distribution System to all the applicants.

In a release here, the Collector said that till September 18, a total of 1,16,245 applications were received seeking family cards excluding the 1,872 applications received in the last few days. Of this 65,199 applications were found eligible. The district administratin has so far received 47,708 cards printed from Chennai. They have been sent to the respective civil supplies tahsildars and taluk supply officers. Till September 18, a total of 35,018 cards have been distributed to the applicants. Efforts were on to expedite the distribution of the remaining cards. The Collector said that those seeking family cards could still submit applications.
