Traffic likely to be affected

Two outfits are holding protests in the city today

BANGALORE: Saturday morning threatens to be a nightmare for motorists using the thoroughfares of the central business district as protests by the Karnataka Chraista Ranga and Hindu Jagarana Vedike are likely to disrupt the free movement of traffic.

In the light of these protests, the Bangalore Traffic police have requested motorists to use alternative roads. The protest by the Chraista Ranga, led by H.T. Sangliana, MP, and religious leaders to highlight the attacks on Christians, is expected to draw a crowd of around 10,000.

As a part of the protest, a human chain will be formed from Trinity Circle to the Arts and Crafts Circle at 10 a.m., which will throw traffic out of gear.

In a counter protest to be staged by the vedike activists, a human chain will be formed at Queen’s statue that is likely to affect traffic on Queen’s Road, Queen’s Circle, Anil Kumble Circle, Kasturba Road and Siddalingaiah Circle.

The traffic police have asked the motorists to use Cubbon Road, St. Mark’s Road and Lavelle Road to ease the flow of traffic between 10 a.m. and noon and prevent traffic chaos.
