HC clears trumpet junction for airport

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday confirmed a single judge order upholding the acquisition of land belonging to a private investment firm for the construction of a trumpet junction at Kannamangala.
The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) had acquired the land belonging to Girias Investment Corporation at Kannamangala village in Devanahalli taluk for the international airport that is being built by Bangalore International Airport limited (BIAL).
The land had been acquired to construct a trumpet junction to ensure smooth movement of traffic. The State said the present road was inadequate to cater to the needs of traffic.
Girias Investment Corporation said that the KIADB had not given it an opportunity of hearing before acquiring the land. A Division Bench dismissed the petition.
