NEW DELHI: Four young men allegedly extorting money posing as BSES employees have been arrested from different parts of North-East Delhi. The police recently received a complaint from Nasir, a resident of Khajoori Khas, alleging that five persons claiming to be BSES employees came to his house and demanded Rs. 13,000 stating that his electricity meter was faulty. They threatened to get a case registered against him if he did not pay up. On the basis of the complaint, the police laid a trap and arrested two of the accused, Shahzad and Sameer, when they were receiving Rs. 8,000 from Nasir. In another case, Sandeep and Darshan Lal were arrested by the Shahdara police on charges of trying to extort Rs. 25,000 from Dharmender Kumar. The two had allegedly tampered with an electricity meter installed at Dharmender‘s residence and demand money to settle the matter.
