   1.  The Government of India (GOI) has received a credit from  the 
   International Development Association (IDA) to finance the  India 
   Rubber Project (CR 2409 IN).  The major project component include 
   "Establishment  of  a  Rubber  Database  system"  at  the  Rubber 
   Research  Institute of India (RRII), Kottayam - 686 009,  Kerala, 
   India.   As  a part of the Technical Assistance, about  US$  0.60 
   Million  (Rs.25.6  Million at the exchange rate  of  Rs.43/-)  is 
   earmarked  for financing the project "Establishment of  a  Rubber 
   Database  system".  It is intended that part of the  proceeds  of 
   this  loan  will  be  applied  to  eligible  payments  under  the 
   contracts for which this invitation for Bids is issued.
   
   2.  The  Rubber Research Institute of India, now  invites  sealed 
   bids  from  eligible  bidders for the  supply,  installation  and 
   commissioning  of  (i)  Computer  Systems  and  (ii)   Networking 
   installations for Establishment of a Rubber Database.  Evaluation 
   will be  done separately for each package.
   
   3. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and 
   inspect  the  bidding documents at the office  of  the  Director, 
   Rubber  Research Institute of India, Kottayam - 686  009,  Kerala 
   State, India.
   
   4.  A complete set of Bidding documents may be purchased  by  any 
   interested  eligible  bidder  on  the  submission  of  a  written 
   application,  in duplicate to the above address and upon  payment 
   of non-refundable fee of Rs.2000/- or US$ 50 by a Demand Draft in 
   favour  of Director, Rubber Research Institute of India,  payable 
   at  Kottayam.  The bidders who purchase the Bidding  document  in 
   their names only are eligible for submission of bid.
   
   5.  The  provisions  in the Instructions to Bidders  and  in  the 
   General  Conditions of Contract are the provisions of  the  World 
   Bank Standard Bidding Documents, Procurement of goods.
   
   6.  Bids  must be delivered to the above address (para 3)  on  or 
   before 15.00 Hrs IST on 3.5.1999 and must be accompanied by a Bid 
   Security as mentioned in ITB Clause 15.
   
   7.   Bids   will   be  opened  in  the   presence   of   bidder's 
   representatives who choose to attend at 10.00 Hrs IST on 4th  May 
   1999  at  the office of the Rubber Research Institute  of  India, 
   Kottayam - 686 009, Kerala, India.

   8.  A complete set of Bidding Document may be obtained  from  the 
   office of the Director of Research, Rubber Research Institute  of 
   India, Kottayam - 686 009, Kerala, India, during office hours  on 
   all working days either in person or by post.
