Admissions for the Academic Year 1999-2000

Indian Institute of Science, an internationally renowned Institute provides excellent opportunities to highly talented students to participate in exploring new horizons in Science & Engineering Research and to take up major technological challenges. Admissions are open to Research and Course programmes.

I. Research Programmes

A.
(1) Science Faculty - Ph.D Programme : Astronomy & Astrophysics, Biochemistry, Ecological Sciences, Inorganic & Physical Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology & Cell Biology, Molecular Biophysics, Molecular Reproduction, Development & Genetics, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Solid State & Structural Chemistry, Theoretical Studies, Materials Research - (Ph.D & M.Sc.(Engg)).

(2) Engineering Faculty - Ph.D & M.Sc.(Engg) Programmes: Aerospace, Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Automation, Electrical Communication, Electrical, Electronics Design & Technology, High Voltage, Instrumentation, Management Studies, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Supercomputer Education & Research.

Qualification - In General: BE/B.Tech or a Master's degree in Science in a relevant field.

B.
Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Biological, Chemical and Physical Sciences for first class B.Sc.(Physics, Chemistry & Maths) graduates. In addition should be successful in IISc Entrance Test to be held in 18 Centres on 9th May 1999.

C.
External Registration Programme for sponsored candidates from R & D Organisation / Industries with minimum 2 years experience and who are not above 45 years of age as on 1-4-1999.

Qualification - Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or a Master's degree in Science in a relevant field.

II. Masters Degree Programmes

A.
ME (1 1/2 years) : Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, High Voltage, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Microelectronic Systems, Signal Processing, Systems Science & Automation, Telecommunication.

B.
M.Tech (1 1/2 years) :
(a) Electronics Design & Technology,
(b) Instrumentation,
(c) Satellite Technology & Applications,
(d) Computational Science (New programme).

Qualification : BE/B.Tech with a valid GATE Score. Also candidates with M.Sc. in Physics, Electronics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Biological Sciences are eligible for some M.Tech programmes.

C.
M Des (2 years) : Product Design & Engineering

Qualification - BE/B.Tech with a valid GATE/CEED Score.

D.
MBA (2 years) : Management Studies
(New programme - replaces the existing M.Tech programme).

Qualification - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology with a valid GATE Score.

Information Brochure cum Application Form can be had from selected CANARA BANK branches all over the country on payment of Rs.350/- or from IISc directly by sending a DD. External Registration candidates can get Application Form only from IISc on payment of Rs.750/- through DD. Non sponsored SC/ST candidates need to pay Rs.100/- only for application fee and other concessions are as per GOI rules.
