KOLKATA: The local referees officiating in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) withdrew their decision to boycott the tournament and rejoined the league on Tuesday. The two-day impasse between the Calcutta Referees’ Association (CRA) and the State governing body of the sport — IFA — was resolved after the secretaries of both the associations met.
CRA, as an affiliate of IFA, had been protesting against latter’s decision to have outstation referees officiating important CFL matches. The boycott call was withdrawn after IFA was able to make itself clear about the reasons that prompted it to temporarily appoint outstation referees. — Principal Correspondent
