BJP confident of power transfer: Sushma Swaraj

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said the party was confident on transfer of power from Janata Dal (Secular).

Speaking to presspersons here, she said, “We are certain that it (power transfer) will take place and we have no doubt about it in our mind. I do not see any problem or confusion over the power transfer.” Stating that credibility was an important factor in politics, she said: “Janata Dal (S) will be interested to be a part of the governance as well as to form the Government in future. For a further governance of two years, Janata Dal (Secular) would not be interested in losing its credibility.”

On the choice leadership, Ms. Swaraj said, “B.S. Yediyurappa will be the BJP’s Chief Minister and there is consensus and unanimity over his candidature in the party.

It is logical for him to get elevated from the post of deputy chief minister to that of the chief minister.” Mr. Yediyurappa is the choice both at the national and State level, she said. Commenting on India’s nuclear deal with the U.S., she said the party’s Opposition emerged from India’s national interest.
