FKCCI plea to ESIC
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has asked the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to reconsider its move to bring outsourced work and job-works under ESI cover.
At a consultation with ESIC representatives on Thursday, FKCCI senior vice-president D. Muralidhar said the ESIC which was currently engaged in a nationwide study on the impact of this move, should take note of the problems it could pose to small and medium enterprises.
G. Ramanand, chairman of the FKCCI’s human resources committee, said the unorganised sector was outside the purview of Emoployees State Insurance, and suggested that the corporation should improve its services to the existing organised sector rather than extending ESI regulations for outsourcing and job work
