BANGALORE: The oil strike that is to begin on Tuesday is not likely to affect business as petrol outlets across the State will stock up fuel for the next couple of days, said Bhushan Narang, president of the Bangalore Petroleum Dealers’ Association. Speaking to The Hindu on the eve of the strike, called by Oil Sector Officers’ Association, Mr. Narang said that the nearly 2,000 petrol outlets in the State would fill up their tanks so that the reserves could last for two or three days. “By that time, we are hoping that the issues will be sorted out and oil supply resumes,” he said. A senior IOC official said that the strike would not affect people as long as they did not resort to panic buying. “The impact of the strike will be felt only if people start thronging petrol bunks to stock up,” the official said. To handle any emergencies and to minimise the effect of the strike, senior management officials had been deputed to critical locations.
