Nagercoil: The Government has allotted Rs.6 crore for renovation of the Poigai Dam, said the Tourism Minister, N.Suresh Rajan.
Inaugurating the renovated bus stand at Thittuvila, near Boothapandi, on Sunday, the Minister said that theGovernment had been implementing various welfare as well as development schemes for the benefit of poor and down-trodden after DMK came to power.
Ulakai Aruvi scheme would be implemented with an intention to provide potable water to the residents of Nagercoil municipal limits.
In the first phase a sum of Rs.25 lakh had been allotted for the implementation of the project.
Works were going on for the implementation of the integrated drinking water supply scheme at Kanyakumari at a total estimate of Rs.30 crores, Mr. Suresh Rajan said.
To be over in 3 months
The project would be completed with in three months and the residents of Kanyakumari, particularly from coastal areas, would be benefited, said the Minister.
