VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, ordered the verification of goods sold to all ration cards by a fair price shop at West Thulukkankulam near Kariapatti following complaints of irregularities against the shop salesman.
The people of the area complained to the Collector during his visit there on Saturday that the salesman, Rajendran, was not properly supplying rice, sugar and kerosene. The Collector directed the District Supply Officer to verify all the entries made in the ration cards and initiate action against the salesman, if he was at fault.
During the inspection of works initiated under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Scheme in Kariapatti panchayat union, the people of Asari Street complained about exclusion of cement-road laying work under the scheme. Mr. Chandrasekaran immediately promised to provide necessary funds for the road from the Collector’s discretionary fund. He inspected various works, such as laying of cement roads, construction of library, improvement of cremation yard, deepening of ‘ooranis’ and creating playgrounds. He asked the Block Development Officer to expedite all the works.
