Issue pattas for poromboke lands, MLA tells government

Krishnagiri: Members of the rebel faction of Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam (TNVS) staged a demonstration in front of Revenue Divisional Office here on Monday demanding that the State Government issue house site pattas to all eligible farmers in Hosur and Denkanikottai taluks.

Addressing the gathering, Thally MLA, T. Ramachandran asked the government to issue pattas for poromboke lands, which were being cultivated by farmers for successive generations. Pattas should be distributed to all eligible farmers in Hosur and Denkanikottai taluks nullifying the Government Order issued by the then DMK Government in 1989. The government had declared farmlands located on the fringe areas of forests as forestlands earlier. The MLA urged the government to issue pattas to these lands.

It should also issue house site pattas to those who were living on poromboke lands for the past 10 years.

The government should provide two-acre free land to all eligible farmers. Land should be provided to all farmers with preference for Dalits and Scheduled Tribes.

The government had allotted lands to Dalits to take up farming in Agaram village in 1976.

But they were prevented from taking up farming activities. The government should acquire the lands owned by Dalits and allot it to them. State president of TNVS, Lagumaiya led the demonstration.
