East Bengal beats Mohd. Sporting

KOLKATA: Holder East Bengal consolidated its position on top of the league table drubbing Mohammedan Sporting 6-2 in a premier division encounter of the Calcutta Football League here on Tuesday.

East Bengal’s Brazilian striker Edmilson Marques did most of the damage scoring in the 4th, 42nd and 72 minutes.

Forward Ashim Biswas scored twice in the 46th and 48th while Alvito D’Cunha struck in the 55th. For Mohammedan Sporting Basudev Mondal (2nd) and M. Sayju (18th) did the scoring.

On its way to the third straight win, East Bengal posted the biggest winning margin of the tournament so far. — Principal Correspondent
