Tim Boon.
Leicester: Paul Maylard-Mason, CEO, Leicestershire CCC, sought on Sunday to quash stories that senior coach Tim Boon was interested in taking up the Indian coaching job. “I’d just like to kill that one,” Maylard-Mason told The Hindu, “Tim, I understand, has been asked a few questions which he answered. You know how these things happen. Tim certainly hasn’t applied. Ther e has been no official contact and I know Tim hasn’t spoken to them (the BCCI).” Maylard-Mason chose not to comment on the hypothetical possibility of the BCCI approaching Boon. The 45-year-old Boon, who was the analyst with the English team when it won the Ashes in 2005, had been asked if he would be interested in coaching India. His reply — “An international job is something coaches aspire to at some stage. England, Australia and India are the top three positions in the world” — was construed as interest. Other names being linked to the job include Kepler Wessels, Queensland’s Terry Oliver, former Sri Lanka coach John Dyson, South Africa’s Dave Nosworthy and former Indian wicketkeeper and current Maharashtra coach Chandrakant Pandit. — Special Correspondent
