HYDERABAD: Two-time Asian Games bronze medallist, Rajesh Choudhary, will lead the charge in the laser National sailing championships starting at the Hussain Sagar here during the Hyderabad Sailing Week from August 5 to 11. At a press conference addressed jointly by Maj. Gen. M.P. Singh, Vice-President, Laser Class Association of India (LCAI), Col. N.K. Ghai, Lt. Col. (Retd.) M.P. Jaggi, S. Anirrudh, Commodore, Secunderabad Sailing Club, Organising Secretary, Lt. Col. R. S. Dhillon said this year’s competition had registered a 25 per cent increase in participation. The number of participants are 80 including seven women. Ten races will be conducted in each category, he added. Other big names include Laser Standard defending champion, N.S. Johal, D.P. Selvam, P. Madhu and B.K. Raut. Famous clubs in the fray are the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association, the Royal Madras Yachting Club, Yachting Association of Vizag, Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre, Vizag and Mumbai, the Secunderabad Sailing Club, EME Sailing Association, Corps of Engineering Sailing Club, Army Yachting Node, Colaba Club, NDA Sailing Club and INS Mandovi Sailing Club.
